My dad is an avid Asian food fiend! So, naturally, I've been researching (and sampling) sauces for the last 3 years for his heart healthy diet/ low sodium diet. Below are the sauces I keep reaching for over and over again! Let me share them with you!

My "Healthy Heart Lists" change and grow as I explore new items. Check back for more tips.

Best of Thailand "Lite Soy Sauce

Key Nutrition (1 Tablespoon) - Sodium: 270mg/Sat Fat: 0g/ Cholesterol" 0g

Find In Person - Whole Foods

Find Online - Amazon or Whole Foods

Review - It has all of the "soy" flavor without the mouth-numbing, taste-bud-killing sodium bomb. (I can't believe even classic "light" Kikkoman soy sauce has SO MUCH sodium. Forget it!) With this rich depth of flavor, I've been reaching for this bottle in my regular cooking instead of Kikkoman.

Bullhead Shallot Sauce

Key Nutrition (1 Tablespoon) - Sodium: 158mg/Sat Fat: 0g/ Cholesterol" 0g

Find In Person - Whole Foods

Find Online - Amazon or Whole Foods

Review - Just a small scoop of this savory deliciousness will go a long way! This is one of my favorite sauces for myself when I'm feeling lazy. Just a tablespoon of this on fish or poultry and your meal is ready!

S&B Umami Topping "Crunchy Garlic"

Key Nutrition (1 teaspoon) - Sodium: 90mg/Sat Fat: 0g/ Cholesterol" 0g

Find In Person - Any Asian market

Find Online - Amazon

Review - One teaspoon packs a flavor punch! You can top any meat with this savory topping. My "go-to" for a lazy meal: meat, rice, crunchy garlic, done!

Tan Tan Vietmanese Sweet "Fish" Sauce

Key Nutrition (1 Tablespoon) - Sodium: 260mg/Sat Fat: 0g/ Cholesterol" 0g

Find In Person - Whole Foods or specialty markets

Find Online - Amazon

Review - A bit sweeter than the traditional fish sauce that we know and love, but it still maintains the key rich flavors that I really enjoy. Great for dipping spring rolls!

365 Organice Hoison Sauce

Key Nutrition (1 Tablespoon) - Sodium: 110mg/Sat Fat: 0g/ Cholesterol" 0g

Find In Person - Whole Foods- Only

Find Online - Amazon or Whole Foods

Review - The entire 365 Asian sauce line leans a bit towards the sour side. However, if you add a little bit of honey to the sauce, it's actually quite a delicious combination!

This Little Goat Chili Crunch

Key Nutrition Facts (2 teaspoon) - Sodium:110mg /Cholesterol:0mg /Sat Fat: 0.5g

My Review: Tangy, savory with that bite and bite and crunch that really seals the deal on any dish. See my full review here. Trust me, you won't regret it, it goes with absolutely EVERYTHING. Heart healthy, too!

Where to Get it: World Market, Little Goat Website or Amazon

Cold Mountain Kyoto White Miso

Key Nutrition (1 teaspoon) - Sodium: 125mg/Sat Fat: 0g/ Cholesterol: 0g

Find In Person - Whole Foods, Sprouts

Find Online - N/A

Review - I always thought miso must have a ton of sodium. But actually, miso leans into the fermented-savory taste rather than the "salty" profile. Low sodium! MIND BLOWN.

Coconut Secret - Coconut Aminos

Key Nutrition (1 Tablespoon) - Sodium: 270mg/Sat Fat: 0g/ Cholesterol: 0g

Find In Person - Any local supermarkets

Find Online - Amazon

Review - I find that coconut aminos are not a perfect replacement for all dishes that use soy sauce but are a perfect compliment for some Southeast Asian dishes (Vietnamese, Thai, Singaporean...etc) that naturally use coconut in their dishes.

Recipes examples - Thai Tofu Satay
